The Cold-Forge Anomaly

Entity Designation: Cryo-Metallic Phage

Fig. Cryo-Metallic Phage

Following the frozen trail, I witnessed the Cold-Forge Anomaly. It possesses no biological tissue, no face, and no symmetry.

  • It is a lopsided, suspended mass of hyper-chilled, fractured metallic plates—resembling geometric bismuth and rusted iron—endlessly grinding against a weeping, pale-blue crystalline core.
  • The heavy, metallic left side sags downward, while the right side splinters upward into a chaotic spray of floating, frozen shrapnel.
  • It does not burn in the magma. Instead, it possesses an organ that aggressively feeds on the ambient Hum of thermal energy, violently inverting the frequencies.
  • Where it hovers, boiling liquid rock is instantly sapped of its heat, snapping into jagged, sub-zero glass in a matter of seconds.

As it drifted near my cliffside observation point, the sudden localized drop in temperature was terrifying.

  • The air shattered into falling snow, my enchanted ink froze solid mid-stroke, and I narrowly avoided severe frostbite simply by standing in its peripheral shadow.
  • The cursed energy leaking from the anomaly caused the paper of my journal to physically ice over, cracking the pages as I wrote.
Terran Analogue

Imagine a massive block of dry ice thrown into a boiling vat of water, shrieking as it violently freezes the liquid around it. Now imagine that block of ice is a chaotic, asymmetrical entity the size of a carriage, and the "water" is liquid magma that violently snaps into jagged, sub-zero glass the moment the creature approaches.
